He is signed to All Elite Wrestling (AEW), where he serves as a colour commentator on Collision and an occasional in-ring talent. He is known for work with Ring of Honor (ROH), Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA), Pro Wrestling Noah and WWE. Haworth started his career in 1999 in the American independent circuit as Nigel McGuinness before signing with ROH in 2003. In 2005, he won the ROH Pure Championship and held it for a then-record 350 days (before it was eclipsed by Lee Moriarty's reign in 2025). He also won the ROH World Championship in 2007 and held the title for 545 days. In 2009, Haworth worked with TNA under the ring name Desmond Wolfe until his in-ring retirement in 2011 due to medical complications. He returned to ROH in August 2011 as a colour commentator and on-screen authority figure, but left in December 2016 and signed with WWE shortly after, working as a commentator for NXT and NXT UK. After his departure from WWE in October 2022, he signed with AEW in April 2023 as a commentator and returned to in-ring competition in August 2024.
