During the event Chief of Naval Operations (CNO) Adm. Jonathan Greenert presented the USO Sailor of the Year Award to Explosive Ordnance Disposal 1st Class Andrew C. Munden. The gala also honored a service member from each branch of the military as well as the USO Volunteer of the Year and the Spirit of the USO Award recipient. Accompanied by Vice Chairman of the Joints Chiefs of Staff Adm. James A. Winnefeld Jr., actors Jason "Wee Man" Acuna and Dennis Haysbert, recording artists Phillip Phillips, Diana DeGarmo and Ace Young, National Football League athletes Dwayne Allen, Andrew Luck and David DeCastro, and Miss America, Kira Kazantsev spent time with service members during a United Service Organizations tour March 6, 2015 at Bagram Air Field, Afghanistan. During the tour troops were treated to live performances and had the opportunity to speak and take photos with fan favorites.
